Time is limited when we return to school in January, so you won't have a ton of opportunities to life your grade. But, if you're unhappy with your current standing and want to propose an idea to me for an extra credit project, I'm willing to hear it. If you're looking for something to read over break, consider picking up something dealing with Ancient Rome, to set yourself up well for both the second semester and our trip. Wikipedia has an extensive list of fiction options.
